Summary judgment granted against Palos Verdes School Board Member Matthew Brach in his lawsuit attacking Governor Newsom’s Covid-19 school re-opening framework.
In Brach v. Newsom, a group of parents, led by Palos Verdes Unified School District Board member Matthew Brach, have filed a lawsuit against California’s governor.
The purpose of the lawsuit is to invalidate the governor’s orders setting a minimum threshold for California’s schools to consider in person attendance in classes.
On Wednesday, December 2, 2020, the federal court sua sponte dismissed the lawsuit concluding that none of the claims asserted by Brach had merit. Earlier this year, my firm filed an amicus brief on behalf of a group of teachers that support the measured approach taken by California.
