Twitter admits that mobile app users’ entire address book is uploaded to Twitter and retained for 18 months: http://lat.ms/yHXmBC .  This includes email addresses, phone numbers and addresses.  The upload occurs when users of the mobile Twitter app presses the “find friends” button on their phone.
